Dedicated Soul Club – How It All Started – Back to 1981

The Dedicated Soul Club (DSC) – Was started by  organising soul nights in Peterborough at various venues around the city center such as – Herlington / Cresset / Grove Center / Swimming Pool / Swiss Cottage / Copeland Center to name but a few. Attendances grew with the club and eventually the first Northern Soul All Nighter took place in 1981 at the WIRRINA by DSC – this was the same year that Wigan Casino closed.

After running a number of successful All Nighters at the WIRRINA – the other local soul club (E.A.S.C) which organized the All Nighters at the Fleet Center and All Dayers at ST Ives closed.

The DSC took over these venues, carrying on giving soul fans what they wanted.

The DSC ran many successful All Dayers at ST Ives and All Nighters at the Fleet Center up until 1986 – when Northern Soul took a downward slide due to most of us settling down and the non influx of youngsters into the scene.

(Other people call it hibernation.)  

DSC  not only organised events in the local Cambridge area but also other venues Inc Camden Electric Ball Room London, Clapham Junction, Nott's Palais, Basildon, Chelmsford and Southend to mention but a few.
